Eating Insects Weird Food

Eating and food, specially eating insects is a point of view.
While many people in the world just think it is disgusting to eat insects,
people in Asia love to eat insects.
Some people call it weird food, but fried caterpillars, bamboo worms, silk worms
scorpions and so on are a beloved Thai snack.
A few nights ago a street vendor sold this juicy, fried silk worms (Bombyx mori)
for just 20.- Baht a bag and for sure the boys could not resist.
Insects are highly nutritious and high in protein.
The silk worms has been fried with pandan leaves
and just before serving there is soy sauce sprinkled over the worms.

Is this actual food for some cultures or simply for photographic reasons?

Brian, this is for real. It is common in Asia but not in my country. I don’t see how I can eat insects though. Can’t imagine how it taste like.

Eating insects is not as weird as you might expect.
I am German and during my travel through Asia (including Thailand), I did eat some bugs myself.
They dont taste as bad as one might expect.. The taste is a little like the smell of cat-food =D.
But not too bad at all. Bugs are best served with a lot of beer
