Pai Tou Chinese Temple Roof Decoration

    By admin | April 15, 2010

This spectacular chinese decoration element is called Pai Tou.
The Pai Tou on the roof of the chinese clan house temple
Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi in George Town, Penang, Malaysia
is about 3 meters tall and, like some people say,
    the biggest in the world.
The Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi in George Town is one of the most spectacular
chinese temples outside of China and was built by the forefathers
of the Khoo family, who emigrated from South China to Penang
    The building was so magnificent,
that upon its completion, the roof was hit by lightning
    and caught fire.
The people believe it happened due to Khoo Khongsi´s resemblance
to the emperor´s palace in China.
    George Town, Penang´s main city
with its spectacular Leong San Tong Khoo Kongsi temple was declared
a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the year 2008.
